Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem Resigns as DP World CEO

The CEO of the worldwide logistics conglomerate DP World, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, has stepped down immediately after the release of documents that reveal his close personal and professional connections with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The two men have been close friends for over a decade, during which time they exchanged hundreds of emails that contained discussions about business ventures, high-level political connections, and Epstein’s inappropriate remarks about women. The writing was on the wall for the CEO and the company when major global investors, including a UK government agency and a major Canadian pension fund, put their funding of the company on hold. Although being mentioned in the documents does not necessarily indicate any illegal activity on the part of the CEO, the pressure from business associates and global organizations was so great that the entire leadership of the company had to be overhauled.
